Class 6M is a class of 9 Year 5 and 6 pupils, our class support staff are Mandy and Sophie. We are part of the Primary but based in the secondary building.
This term in English we are completing non-chronological reports with a rainforest theme. We are then going to be reading and completing work on The Butterfly Lion, by Michael Morpurgo. In science we are starting off by looking at Changing State, completing lots of exciting experiments. Then we will move onto learning about Rocks, Fossils and Soils.
In Humanities we initially have a Geography focus on the World’s Biomes. The pupils will create their own mini-Biomes and visit the Butterfly Farm which is a man-made Biome. In the second half term we are focusing on History learning about the Mayan Civilisation and look forward to completing some Mayan artwork.
In PSHE we are learning about our present and future dreams and goals and the resilience needed when things don't always go to plan. We will then move on to look at the importance of keeping our bodies and minds healthy. Our RE focus will be Buddhism, learning all about the beliefs, culture and traditions of this religion.
PE is on a Wednesday with Mr Reed and the pupils are currently doing gymnastics.
On Thursday the class completes art with Miss Jones this half term making their own castles before moving onto a study of prehistoric artwork.
Class 6M is also very lucky to be taking part in drama workshops during the first Spring half term, organized through The Courtyard Theatre. We shall be visiting the Hereford Community Farm in the second half term learning about animal care and completing a group woodwork project!
All in all, a very busy but great Spring Term ahead!
