Class 3 2021 - 2022
Class 3 is a mixture of Year 8 and Year 9 pupils.
The pupil’s curriculum is centred on a mixture of ‘core’ and compulsory subjects. The core curriculum consists of Maths, English, Science, Physical Education, PSHE and Religious Education. At present pupils also study Design & Technology and History. They also have a weekly Careers lesson that focuses on potential jobs or post-16 education provision.
Autumn Term 2021
Class 3 have enjoyed a weekly session at the Community Farm near Hereford. Pupils experiences cooking outdoors, animal management and woodwork. At Christmas they made reindeers!
Spring and Summer Term 2022
This term in English. pupils have been doing a non-fiction unit based on Newspapers. It is designed to support a variety of text-types common in the news media. It also links well with the Functional Skills Curriculum in preparation for exams in Year 9 and beyond. The unit cumulates in creating their own individual page in a newspaper.
In Design and Technology, they have been making a clock in the Steam Punk Style. What is this you may ask? It is based on 19th century steam powered technology. Pupils have been very engaged in this topic and produced some great clocks, which will be coming home soon.
In PHSE lesson Class 3 are working with Purple Leaf. Purple Leaf is an educational resource run by West Mercia Police. It has been created to increase young people’s awareness of abuse and arm them with the skills, knowledge and tools to cope.
