Marvels 2021 - 2022

Miss Evans

Welcome to Marvels!

This term our topic is Magic and we will be exploring in English William Shakespeare’s Macbeth. We will be exploring the text in depth using our reterival and inference skills. We will also be extending our speech by language skills by carrying out scenes of the play. Finally, we will write a newspaper report based on the play.

In Maths, we are looking at Place Value and using this to help us solve addition and subtraction problems both mentally and using formal written methods.

In history this term, we are travelling through the 20th century. We discover how our culture has changed, including holidays and film. We will also find out how technology has changed and how this impacted society.

The Marvels are going on weekly swimming lesson , this half term, every Wednesday. They will also have weekly P.E. Lessons with Mr Reed every Friday

We look forward to the year ahead.

May 2022 Herefordshire School Value Games

The Marvellous Marvels spent the day at The Herefordshire Schools Values Games staged at the Hereford Leisure Centre recently where schools from all over the county competed in values themed festivals in tennis, tag rugby, golf & athletics. The Marvels competed in the busiest competition, the tag rugby, which involved 15 different teams.

Following an inspirational opening ceremony speech from Charlotte, a local girl who is now representing team GB at karate, the team spent the rest of the day competing in the tag competition. The first game ended in a narrow defeat 6 tires to 4 and then a thrilling draw 5 tries each and they finished the pool matches with a fantastic victory scoring 6 tries. Finishing second in the group they then played Weobley in a second stage match and drew this game, again scoring several well worked tries.

The improvement the team made after each and every game was fantastic and their ability to respond to feedback and learn so quickly was incredible. All members of the team demonstrated the 3 core values of passion, teamwork and respect throughout the day. At the end of the day the officials and organisers had to select 3 winners, awarding each winner the value award for best demonstrating that value.

Alex Dowson from Worcester Warriors confirmed that the Brookfield team played with such intensity and pride all day and worked so hard for each other that they were awarded the passion award.

A big thank you to Dave Rogers from Worcester Warriors Community Coaching for his work with the class last term. We will definitely be entering more tag festivals next year.
