PERSONAL, SOCIAL AND HEALTH EDUCATION
Our aim is to equip all students with the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding in order for all students to participate in an active and fulfilled role in society.
Key Stage 2 and 3
All students receive two lessons of PSHE each week.
Topics include: Sex and Relationship Education
Keeping Safe
Keeping Healthy
The World of Work
Money and finance
Being a Citizen
Rights and Responsibilities
Diversity and Inclusion
Prejudice and Discrimination
At Key Stage Four all students study AQA Level Two Award in PSE. This provides them with a functional basis for their future life and helps to develop their life skills as well as their understanding of the world around them; their moral compass and their ability to make well thought out choices
All students in Key Stage three and four have one Citizenship lesson each week. This focuses on helping our students to understand the concepts of being a citizen. Topics covered include Law and Order, The Democratic System, radicalisation and the Prevent Strategy, Diversity and Inclusion, and Regional Differences.
All students in Key Stage three and four have one Religious Education lesson each week. In Key Stage three, the focus is learning about religions - Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism and Hinduism. At Key Stage Four, the focus is learning from religions. Topics include ‘Peace & Conflict’, ‘Crime & Punishment’, ‘Medical Ethics’ and ‘Relationships’.
