5th June 2026 - Sport Activities in School

Last week we welcomed 2 external delivers who came into school to deliver some activities as part of our personal development offer. Harrison from south wye boxing came in and delivered an introduction to boxing to pupils in year 7-10. He spoke to them about the rules of boxing and the difference between aggression and controlled aggression as well as going through the basics of the stance and some introductory jabs.

Yessie from Hereford FC in the community also started our 6 week block of girls football sessions where we had 11 girls taking part in bespoke sessions aimed just for girls. It was fantastic to see some different faces really come out of their comfort zone during these sessions. Part of the programme is to signpost opportunities in the community so if parents and carers want any information about any further sessions available or joining a local club please reach out and we can help.

Thank you to South Wye Boxing and West Mercia Police who help fund the sessions and especially Harrison for his time and expertise. Also a big thank you to Yessie for her football sessions it was great to see so many of our girls involved and enjoying the sessions.

National School Games May 2026

Following a 5th successive year of gold standard in the national school games mark awards we have been successful in our application to upgrade to Platinum

The school games mark recognises a schools engagement in the school games programme and the commitment shown to physical education and sport at the school. The school enters a number of different school games events including the summer school games, dodgeball and athletics competitions as well as targeted sessions in alternative activities such as climbing, martial arts and skating just to name a few.

We are externally proud of our platinum status that is currently held by less than 20% of schools across the county. The opportunities and experiences within sport and physical activity our pupils have play a significant part in promoting and maintaining both physical and mental health and wellbeing. A huge thank you to Stride Active for the fantastic programme they provide for schools locally and to some of the key stakeholders we work with including Halo Leisure, Whitecross Tennis Club, South Wye Boxing, Matt Hudd Martial Arts & Hereford FC in the Community.

 3rd March 2026

KS2 classes have been getting their heart pumping in health and fitness lessons this week. As well as circuit training and leaving new methods of training they have been tracking heart rate and discussing the changes to the body when they exercise.

Some great effort by Avengers, Titans and Marvels getting their working heart rates in the 'aerobic training zone'
