Welcome to Arrow Class!
Welcome back to the start of a new year.
This year at Arrow we welcome several new students ranging from year 8 to year 11. Throughout the term our students will get involved in a variety of different activities some of which include Boxing, Gym sessions, Boulder Barn and HVT Farm. Alongside this all of the students will be working towards a qualification in Math's and English and working to achieve as many AQA awards throughout the term that they can. AQA Awards are achieved alongside confidence building and transferable skills to support them in the future.
The academic subjects they are following include:
English
Entry Level 3, Functional Skills Level 1 and 2
This half term the students are understanding The Purpose of different Texts which include: Spotting different types of Text, Spotting Language Techniques, Identifying Tone and Style and Identifying Text Formats such as presentational features, paragraphs and bullet points.
Math's
Entry Level 3, Functional Skills Level 1 and 2
The students are learning how to Calculate the Square Root of a Number, Demonstrate the Order of Mathematical Operations and be able to Identify Proper and Improper Mixed Fractions.
PSHE
Autumn 1 we are looking at Health and Wellbeing - Self-efficiency, Stress Management and Future Opportunities.
Careers
Autumn 1 - Following The Eight Gatsby Benchmarks of Good Career Guidance we are currently working at 'Developing yourself through careers, employability and enterprise education' alongside attending careers events. Recognising how students are changing, what they have to offer and what is important to them moving on to Post 16 Education.
Food/Cooking and Independent skills
Learning Basic Cooking and Food Hygiene skills whilst working towards AQA Unit Award Certifications.
