Assistant Headteacher

Start Date:                  1st April 2023 or as soon as possible

Salary Range:             L4 – L8 (starting salary dependent on experience)

Assistant Headteacher.

As Assistant Head Teacher at the Brookfield School, you will have the chance to teach in a creative and inspiring way, lead a team of committed teachers and to help us shape the vision of the school as we continue to move forwards to being an outstanding provision.

Working as part of the senior leadership team, you will help to set the vision for the future of the school, ensuring our young people leave our school as confident, resilient, emotionally literate, ambitious and tolerant young people who are effective communicators in wider society with the necessary qualifications and skills to succeed.  We want them to be proud of what they have achieved and have high expectations of themselves and for their futures.

You will be an outstanding teacher who can continue to model this to colleagues and who has a genuine passion for working with children with additional needs. You will be dedicated to working with families, championing vulnerable children and will have a working knowledge of SEN in terms of practice and legislative frameworks.  As Assistant Head you will take on the role of behaviour lead and will be offered the chance to work towards the National Leadership Award, alongside a comprehensive programme of CPD.

We want to interview candidates who can evidence that they have experience of closing the gaps in learning for pupils who are experiencing challenge, particularly in regulating their behaviours. As importantly, you’re someone who is resilient, innovative and has the type of enthusiasm that’s infectious, so that you bring about change in a positive way. You are also sensitive, respectfully challenging, patient and kind: just the type of leader our students, pupils and community can relate to.

Brookfield School is a specialist school for children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs, associated learning needs and challenging behaviours in Hereford.  We cater for 96 girls and boys between the ages of 6 and 16, and also have a primary intervention programme supporting children aged 5 – 11 to remain in mainstream settings or to assess children without an EHCP.

We are a rapidly improving school who have been recognised by Ofsted as having made strong progress in every area. Pupil, staff and families’ morale is good and we are very positive about the bright future of the school.

Join us as we continue upon our journey towards becoming an outstanding provision.

Visits to the school are welcomed from the 19th November 2023. Please contact Wendy Roberts on 01432 265153 to make an appointment.
