7R

7R 2022 - 2023

Mr Rowland

Class 7R are a year 7 class with class teacher Mr Rowland and learning support assistants Caroline and Sally.

This half term, we have lots of fun things planned across the curriculum. Some of these are detailed below.

In English, our focus for this half term is Kensuke’s Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo. Whilst reading this, we will be having a go at hot seating, writing diary entries, writing letters and even writing a new chapter for the book in Morpurgo’s style! After this, we will be looking into the poem the Jabberwocky and grappling with some of its nonsense words.

In Maths, our first focus is place value, and as part of this, we will be looking back on what we already know, and building on this knowledge with bigger and more complex numbers.

Our Science topic for the half term is food chains and this will be closely linked with our topic for Humanities which is Exploring Africa. As part of these two topics, we will be doing some interesting projects including making our own food chains for different animals and exploring the different regions of Africa and all that they have to offer.

Our RE study will be looking the 6 main religions of the UK and then looking into more detail about some of them.

We will also be learning how to greet each other in French!

Other important things to remember is that we are visiting the farm on Wednesday morning, and DT with Mr Broadbridge in the afternoon.  On Thursday afternoon, we will have PE with Mr Reed and Friday afternoon is enrichment!

We are all looking forward to a brilliant year!
