Hello and welcome to the Marvels class.

Marvels – Spring Term 1.

In English this half term we will be reading the exciting and invigorating text, The Great Kapok Tree. Pupils will develop their language and vocabulary choices through persuasive writing and non-chronological reports as well as an appreciation for stories that represent how all living things depend on one another.

This fits in well with our humanities lessons where we will be looking at land biomes of the world. Pupils will have the chance to visit an artificial biome and will also use their creative skills in making their own model Eden Project. Pupils will identify how animals and plants are adapted to cope with life in their biome.

In mathematics we will continue to work on our understanding of number place value, addition and subtraction and we will also be working with money by ordering, estimating, converting and adding and subtracting.

We are lucky to be able to spend a Thursday morning at the Community Farm. The pupils get the opportunity to take part in a wide range of tasks and skills development such as woodwork, animal care and cookery.

We are proud of the hard work and progress our pupils are making. Keep it up Marvels!
